Husky congestion

Hi! I am looking for advice on my 7 year old husky, Wally. We are located in New England in the US for context on season (Winter) and $$. A few weeks ago, my husband and I noticed Wally started making more huffs/puffs throughout the day. He is a grunty guy to begin with and will huff and puff all day if he feels like he's not getting his way, so we originally thought he was just "extra" for a little while - developing personality. We also noticed his eyes starting to tear up a bit more around that same time. About 2 weeks ago, we started noticing he seems to have more difficulty breathing through his nose at night, especially when he is laying on his side. He's started mouth breathing more and snoring (he normally doesn't snore). In addition to the mouth breathing and snoring, there will be times throughout the night where it seems like he tries to take a deep breath, but ends up gasping for air. We took him to the vet and he was prescribed doxycycline hyclate and probiotics (to help with loose stool as a result of the antibiotics - he's always had a sensitive stomach). The vet essentially said we can start with the antibiotics, next step would be sedation and scoping his throat/nasal passage for any obstruction, but she advised that may not be the best option because the odds of her finding something this way is low (she wouldn't be able to see the full nasal passage?). She said next steps after that would be internal medicine vet for testing, and she said testing could be thousands of dollars (which we don't have at the moment). She said it was unlikely that he developed allergies this late in life, but for some additional context, we sell secondhand items for estate/garage sales, thrift store, etc. so our place does tend to be a bit dustier especially when we can't have the windows open in the winter. I couldn't get a video of the deep snort/gasping because that usually happens at night during deep sleep, but here is some of his snoring. I am wondering if anyone has seen something similar in their dogs or may know what this could be. I love Wally so much, but getting hit with the statement that anything from here will cost thousands is really hard to hear. I'm just looking for some direction before we end up in debt over something that crowdsourcing may be able to help find an answer too or at least point us in the right direction for actual assessment/testing.
